FAQs

What should i expect?

At your first appointment, we will focus on getting to know you, understanding the concerns that have brought you to therapy, and considering what you hope to get out of our work together. It will be primarily an assessment session that will give us important information to guide the development of a therapy plan that is uniquely tailored to your needs.

There is usually a lot to cover in the initial appointment so this session will be 80 minutes in duration. Subsequent sessions will be 50 minutes in duration.

How often you come to therapy depends on your needs and circumstances. I usually recommend weekly or fortnightly sessions to begin with, however, this decision will be discussed and made collaboratively at your first appointment.

Do I need a referral?

You do not need a referral to see a psychologist. However, having a referral from a GP or psychiatrist will make you eligible to receive Medicare rebates for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.

If you are consulting with a GP for a referral, you will need a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) in addition to a signed and dated referral letter.

If you are receiving a referral from a psychiatrist, a signed and dated referral letter is all you need.

What are the fees & rebates?

Fees

Initial appointment (80 mins): $305

Subsequent appointments (50 mins): $240

Rebates

If you have a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan, you can receive a rebate of $141.85 per session from Medicare for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.

If you are privately funding your psychology sessions (i.e., not accessing Medicare rebates), you may be eligible to a rebate through your private health fund.

Please note that I do not offer bulk billing services so there will be an out-of-pocket cost.
